CNET UK - 09 November’07 - reviews the Nokia N76 and comments that like other Nokia smartphones the battery power is poor. Here’s an excerpt from their review -
“The N76 has excellent dual screens, impressive smartphone features and very good music performance. Its wonky design and poor battery life make it hard to recommend, however. So while this handset may be in the same range as the excellent N95, it’s definitely not in the same class.”RegHardware - 31 October’07 - reviews the Nokia N76 and warns that in poor reception areas the phone struggles to find a satisfactory signal. Here’s and excerpt from their verdict -
“Fashion accessory or smart phone? The N76 is easy to use, comes with a reasonable suite of functions and - in red at least - doesn’t look half bad. The music player is top drawer, while the web browser isn’t too shabby either. Avoid the black, unless you really like polishing things.”LapTop Magazine - 6/30/2007 - has reviewed the Nokia N76 and they write, “There’s a lot be said about the N76’s freedom and versatility. However, if style is your game–and $499 is your price ceiling–you’d look cooler with an iPhone. If the sky’s the limit, consider the $749 Nokia N95, which sports GPS and an even sharper 5-MP camera.”
3G - 6/20/2007 - has reviewed the Nokia N76 and they write, “We like the N76 but do wonder why its part of the N Series as opposed to being called say “Nokia 76XX” where the XXs complete a new model number.
We must not forget that this is a powerful 3G smartphone with a good music player. The camera seems shy of megapixels at only 2 megapixels. The 3.5mm jack problem we can live with but can imagine the type of posts this will feed on our 3G Forum.
My final comment would be that if you are looking for a sleek, powerful 3G smartphone then you must check out the N76.”
InfoSync - 6/10/2007 - has reviewed the Nokia N76 and they write, “The Nokia N76 is a frustrating phone when you realize just how much better it must be abroad. The phone’s performance is a bit more zippy than the N75, and it includes niceties like a 3.5mm headphone jack and a slick design. Still, the lack of 3G support is a real let down, and though we hate it when carriers muck up the features on our favorite phones, in this case we wish a carrier would step in and make things better, like e-mail, IM and PlaysForSure support, all of which are better (or available) on the N75. Had Nokia addressed these concerns, and thought more about their audience, instead of simply selling what is clearly a European phone to the U.S. market, they would have a real winner on their hands. Instead, the phone just reminds us of what could have been.”
MobileBurn - 5/26/2007 - reviews the Nokia N76 and writes, “The Nokia N76 looks great on paper, but of course is not perfect in real life. Apart from the HTC Star Trek (Qtek 8500/Dopod S300) which is quite outdated by now, this device does not have any direct competition in the thin smartphone department. Apart from a few design glitches such as the earphone jack that gets in the way with the flip and the poor battery life, the N76 seems to deliver what is has promised. It is sleek and powerful.
Its ergonomics aren’t the best and there are a number of places in the software that we hope to see improvements in, including the lack of consistency with settings organization and the instability of cover display UI. The background hissing noise heard when playing music is something that I think really needs to be solved first.”
