Reviewers Conclusions & Verdicts - (updated 28 July’08)
ComputerActive reviews the HTC Touch Diamond and writes -
“The messaging system suffers from extreme slowness as well – in theory you can swipe a finger across the screen to see the next message but in practice this only worked rarely, and the rest of the time either didn’t work or registered as a press, which took us to the current message.”

RegHardware reviews the HTC Touch Diamond and writes -
“The Touch Diamond may not be perfect, but it’s small, light, well equipped and comes with a smooth, clever and reliable 3D user interface that looks great and keeps you well away from Windows Mobile. The screen and web browser are both particularly fine. Our biggest concern is the lack of a memory card slot which on a high-end smartphone in this day and age is tough to explain or justify.”

CNET reviews the HTC Touch Diamond and writes -
“The HTC Touch Diamond offers much in the way of sex appeal and flash, and it’s certainly got a formidable feature set. However, we hope HTC resolves some of the performance issues we experienced before the smartphone is released in the States.”

LapTopMag reviews the HTC Touch Diamond and writes -
“HTC is asking a premium for this unlocked phone—$779 is a lot of money given that you could buy nearly four iPhone 3Gs for the same price. However, in return, you’re getting a unique and fairly versatile device that can be used the world over for business as well as personal use. The Diamond’s small size and much improved TouchFLO 3D technology make it convenient to use with one hand, which will undoubtedly appeal to unrepentant multitaskers. Its design will attract those who want a good-looking touchscreen smart phone not made by Apple.”

CNET.co.uk reviews the HTC Touch Diamond and writes -
“We had high hopes that HTC might have cracked a Windows Mobile touchscreen phone that could compete with the iPhone user experience. It hasn’t. We’re genuinely disappointed that while the Touch Diamond might look great and have more features than a James Bond gadget, it doesn’t come together smoothly. On paper, it sounds fantastic, but using it was ultimately frustrating.”

Pocket-lint reviews the HTC Touch Diamond and writes -
“HTC has created a device that is a the best iPhone challenger we’ve seen to date and offers those not keen to switch to Apple or O2 the chance to get touchy feely with their phone. Compared to the Samsung i900 this is light years ahead, compared to the BlackBerry Curve, users will miss the QWERTY keyboard and while the touchscreen keyboard does go someway to replacing this it’s just not the same experience. However BlackBerry Pearl users should be fine.”

CNET Asia reviews the HTC Touch Diamond and writes -
“Many readers have emailed us to ask how the HTC Touch Diamond compared to the iPhone 3G. We could go on and on about that, but the main difference is this–you can buy the Diamond now, and HTC doesn’t require you to fulfill its terms to own one. The little improvements HTC has made to the Diamond make it a great product compared to all the other keypad-less Windows Mobile PDA-phones out there now.”

PhoneArena reviews the HTC Touch Diamond and writes -
“We are overall very impressed with HTC’s latest super-phone. TouchFLO 3D is an amazing overlay that proves to be much more than eye candy. Opera Mobile is the best mobile web experience we’ve encountered yet. It’s a very powerful device for both the business user and general consumer alike, and staying fully connected and entertained on the go has never been easier. The size and weight couldn’t be more perfect. HTC set out to raise the bar and they undoubtedly have.”

Brighthand reviews the HTC Touch Diamond and writes -
“The HTC Touch Diamond is the most consumer-friendly Windows Mobile smartphone yet. It’s both powerful and easy to use. People looking to step up from a regular phone to a much more feature-rich one should seriously consider this device.
HTC has clearly put many hours of thought into how to make a smartphone more intuitive, and this device shows it.
I predict big things for this product, with sales in the millions.”

MobileBurn reviews the HTC Touch Diamond and writes -
“But this much I can say: the Touch Diamond is the coolest Windows Mobile Professional device I have used, bar none. I am very much looking forward to a North American version of the Diamond and its brother, the Touch Pro (AKA Raphael), with its large QWERTY keyboard. HTC is really on to something here, to be sure, and regardless of the problems that I experienced, I expect these TouchFLO 3D devices to sell by the millions.”
