InfoSyncMag has reviewed the Helio Ocean and writes - “Pros: Upload YouTube videos taken with the phone. Excellent address book. Great messaging section. Able Web browsing. Strong GPS sensor. Cons: Disappointing video performance. Some reception issues. Keyboard a bit cramped. Lousy camera. Google maps can’t navigate for drivers.”

Rating: ½½½½½

LapTop Magazine - 6/1/2007 - has reviewed the Helio Ocean and they write, “Nevertheless, right now the Ocean is a best-in-class messaging phone. Mobile professionals might prefer the slimmer and cheaper BlackBerry Curve, but this do-it-all device is worth the extra dough for frequent instant messagers and MySpace users. Convenient features like contact presence and Direct Search seal the deal. This is the first Helio phone that’s worth switching carriers for.”

Rating: ½½½½½

PC Mag - 5/16/2007 - has reviewed the Helio Ocean and they write, “If all you want to do is talk, you wouldn’t be buying this device. Just open the keyboard and start typing, and you start seeing serious innovation. When you hit a letter or number, all your contacts starting with that letter or number pop up on the screen, and you can narrow the list down with more keypresses. If you keep going beyond any names in your address book, you can execute a Web metasearch for whatever you’re typing, bringing together results from Amazon, Google, Wikipedia, Yahoo!, and Yelp in tabs.”

Rating: ½½½½½

Slash Gear - 5/11/2007 - has reviewed the Helio Ocean and they write, “Ocean CAN multi-task, but does only for specific apps. The IMS client is always running in the background. You can surf the web while listening to music. Etc. It’s just that Ocean was designed to multi-task around specific use cases. Remember, it’s not a smartphone (but it’s starting to blur the lines between a featurephone and a smartphone).”

Rating: ½½½½½

MobileBurn - 5/10/2007 - has reviewed the Helio Ocean cell phone and they write, “I’m just going to blurt it out here: I love the Helio Ocean. It was a love at first sight thing for me at CTIA, and many hours of quality-time with the production version of the Ocean haven’t changed my feelings one bit. If you are in the market for a messaging oriented device like a Sidekick or a smartphone, the Ocean surely deserves a few moments of your consideration, and maybe even your hard earned cash.

Once Helio adds Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support to the Ocean, I might get too hooked on it to be able to go back to my GSM handsets. It’s that good. I give it a “Highly Recommended” rating without reservations.”
