Pocket-lint - 6/2/2007 - has reviewed the BlackBerry 8700g and they write, “Also, as is becoming increasingly common with business-focused devices there’s no camera. We understand the reasoning behind this (security), but it’s a shame to have all that emailing power and no camera to produce your own attachments.”
InfoSynch - 6/01/2007 - has reviewed the BlackBerry 8700g and writes, “With its bright screen, full-QWERTY keypad, EDGE and Bluetooth support, and characteristically superb e-mail handling, the 8700g is a strong choice for anyone looking to take the BlackBerry plunge. That said, T-Mobile customers who want a BlackBerry device that fits in a pocket might be better off with the slightly smaller (if tougher to use) 7105t, which features a pseudo-QWERTY thumbboard, while bargain hunters may want to scoop up the 7290 for just $100 (or the similarly priced 7105t, for that matter).”
Digital Trends - 6/20/2006 - has reviewed the BlackBerry 8700g and writes, “Aside from a wobbly keypad and a few other minor inconveniences like having to copy your contacts over from your SIM card, this is a flawless device. Business and personal users will enjoy the new and improved performance that comes with the Blackberry 8700g. The EGDE connectivity, included IM client, improved web browser, and new buttons make this device a smash hit. Anyone on the T-Mobile network who is a text messaging or IMing fiend should probably shell out the bucks for this handheld immediately. You won’t be disappointed with the Blackberry 8700g from T-Mobile.”
PC Magazine - 6/19/2006 - has reviewed the BlackBerry 8700g and writes, “Phone reception on this quad-band device is in the average, acceptable range. As with the 8700c, the earpiece is loud and the speakerphone is very loud. I didn’t hear the dropouts or audio fluctuations that I did on the 8700c—there was some background hiss and a bit of scratchiness, but calls came through solidly. Both Logitech and Plantronics Bluetooth headsets paired and connected without a problem. Like all other BlackBerry devices, the 8700g is still missing voice dialing.”
Windows a to z - 5/18/2006 - has reviewed the BlackBerry 8700g and writes, “The Blackberry 8700g is a very nice addition to the RIM Blackberry family. It’s also a definite contender if you’re looking for a Blackberry. It’s full of excellent features that come together nicely and work hand-in-hand and all in a sleek and small package. It’s a definite winner in our opinion.”
Mobile Tech Review - 6/7/2006 - has tested the BlackBerry 8700g and they write, “In the enterprise market the BlackBerry still has a solid and faithful following but in the company that I am responsible for I have already replaced BlackBerry with Pocket PC and the reason for that comes down to the exchange server that I run, my Pocket PCs, smartphones and PalmOne Treos can synchronize with exchange directly, they don’t need the costly BlackBerry Enterprise Server to help them out. By choosing Pocket PC over BlackBerry I’m just saving money, improving reliability, adding features and cutting out another step that I must provide and support, it’s as simple as that.
If you’re a BlackBerry die hard you’ll like this new model but if you’re a pragmatist I think you might conclude that the rest of the world has overtaken the BlackBerry. RIM, we thank you for the Push email; we’ll always remember you for that.”
IT Week - 2/9/2006 - has reviewed the BlackBerry 8700g and they write, “We found the 8700g generally easy to use and very responsive. A thumbwheel and escape/back button on the side of the device let users speedily navigate and select functions, while the 320×240 colour screen is bright and clear and is one of the best we have seen on any handheld.”
